Section 01

Information We Collect

Information you give us

• Your book idea. The text you write in the creation flow, up to 5,000 characters, along with any title, subtitle or guidelines you provide. This is the input our AI needs in order to generate your book, so it is essential to the Service.
• Your name. Used as the author name on the book and its cover.
• Your email address. Used to send you your book preview and to reach you about it.
• Messages you send us. Anything you write when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data. Information about how the Service is accessed and used: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on pages and other diagnostic data.
• Device data. Information about the device you use to access the Service, such as device model, operating system and unique device identifiers.

Section 02

How We Use Your Information

• To provide the Service. To generate your book's editorial plan and chapters from the idea you wrote, and to make the result available to you.
• To deliver your book. To send your preview and the link to your finished manuscript to the email address you gave us.
• To communicate with you. To answer support requests and send administrative messages about the Service.
• To improve the Service. To understand how the Service is used and to develop new features and improve existing ones.
• For security. To detect, prevent and resolve technical problems, abuse and fraud.
• For legal compliance. To meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

Section 03

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information and we do not rent it. We share it only in the situations below.

• AI providers. The text of your idea and your instructions are sent to Anthropic, whose Claude models produce your book's editorial plan and chapters. Anthropic's commercial terms provide that inputs and outputs submitted through their API are not used to train their models; their own terms govern that processing, and you can review them on their website.
• Service providers. Companies that help us operate the Service — hosting, infrastructure, email delivery and analytics. They have access to your information only to perform tasks on our behalf, and they are required not to disclose it or use it for any other purpose.
• Advertising platforms. Not today. See Section 05 for what changes when we turn on ad measurement, and what you can do about it.
• Legal compliance. When required by law or in response to a valid legal process, such as a court order or a subpoena.
• Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will tell you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Section 04

Where Your Information Is Processed

Data protection laws in Brazil and in other countries where our providers operate differ from those of the United States and of your state. By using the Service, you understand and agree to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to make sure your information receives the protection described in this policy wherever it is processed.

Section 05

Advertising and Analytics

The Meta pixel reports two things to Meta (Facebook and Instagram): that you opened a page, and — on our home page and our book creation page — that you viewed our product. Along with that, Meta receives your IP address and browser and device identifiers. It does not report anything you type, the text of your book idea, your name or your email address.

On the pages that carry a link to a specific book of yours, we strip that link out of the web address before the pixel loads, so the identifier for your book is never sent to Meta.

Payment events — starting a checkout, entering payment details, completing a purchase — are reported by our payment provider, not by this site.

Under some United States state privacy laws, that activity counts as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, even though no money changes hands. Ways to limit it:

• Send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser or an extension. We treat a valid GPC signal as a request to opt out of sharing.
• Use your browser's settings to block third-party cookies and trackers.
• Change the ad personalization settings in your account on each platform.
• Email us at contact@makeawriter.com and ask us to opt you out.

If we add another advertising or analytics tracker, we will update this section and the “Last updated” date at the top of this page before or at the time it goes live.

Section 06

How Long We Keep It

We keep your book idea, your name and your email address for as long as we need them to operate the Service and to keep your book available to you. We keep server and security logs for a shorter period, typically measured in months.

You can ask us to delete your information at any time — see Section 08. Deleting it also deletes the book generated from it, so download anything you want to keep first. We may retain a limited amount of information where the law requires it.

Section 07

Security

We use reasonable security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure and destruction. That said, no method of transmission over the Internet and no method of electronic storage is one hundred percent secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Section 08

Your Privacy Rights

Whoever you are and wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
• Port your information, by receiving a copy in a portable format;
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Withdraw consent you previously gave us.

To exercise any of these, email contact@makeawriter.com from the address you used with the Service, or tell us which address you used so we can find your records. We may ask for information to verify who you are before we act — we will not use it for anything else. We respond within 45 days, and we will tell you if we need more time. There is no charge, and we will not treat you differently for asking.

If you are a California resident

In the past twelve months we have collected these categories of personal information:

• Identifiers — your name, email address and IP address;
• Internet or other electronic network activity — pages visited, buttons clicked, browser and device information;
• Your own content — the book idea, title, subtitle and guidelines you write, and the book generated from them.

We collect them directly from you and automatically from your device, for the business purposes in Section 02, and we disclose them to the service providers in Section 03. We do not collect sensitive personal information as the CCPA defines it, so the right to limit its use does not arise.

• We have not sold personal information in the past twelve months, and we do not sell it.
• We do share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, through the Meta pixel described in Section 05. No money changes hands, but United States state privacy law still calls this “sharing”. To opt out, send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser — we honour a valid GPC signal as an opt-out request — or email us at contact@makeawriter.com.
• We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 16.

You have the right to know, delete and correct your personal information, to opt out of any sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf; we will ask for proof that you authorized them.

Section 09

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children and is intended for people 18 and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete it from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, email contact@makeawriter.com and we will remove it.

Section 10

Links to Other Sites

The Service may contain links to sites we do not operate. If you follow one, you go to that third party's site, and we advise you to review its privacy policy. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the content, privacy policies or practices of any third-party site or service.

Section 11

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is material — a new category of data, a new recipient, a new purpose — we will make a reasonable effort to tell you before it takes effect. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
